Canned Wine Consortium — QA/QC Committee

A shared knowledge base for SOPs, technical articles, lab data, and incident reports across the canned wine and RTD category.

QA/QC Committee Charter

v1.0 · updated 9/9/2026

Purpose

The QA/QC Committee exists to advance the technical integrity of canned wine (and other emerging canned beverages) as a category by developing, curating, and sharing quality assurance and quality control knowledge among Consortium members.

Canned wine faces packaging-specific challenges that traditional wine QA/QC does not address. A shared, member-informed knowledge base directly serves the Consortium's founding purpose of supporting member businesses through education and shared knowledge.

Scope

The Committee's work covers the core technical domains of canned beverage packaging and quality, including:

  • Liquid chemistry and pre-bottling parameters
  • Container construction, liner type and application
  • Canning mechanics (internal pressure, double-seam integrity, etc.)

Deliverables

The Committee is responsible for developing, building, and maintaining the following:

  • QA/QC Reference Repository: a living library of SOPs, baseline QA/QC benchmarks, technical articles, relevant data
  • Community data: gather and create a log of incidents and shared findings
  • Research Initiatives: identify research opportunities and submit to the CWC for vote and funding

Cadence

The Committee meets monthly and reports progress or any recommendations to the full membership at least once per year, or more often as warranted.
